WMA's academic programs, library, and computer labs use the Mac OS X operating system; we support both Mac OS X and Windows. We encourage students to have access to a laptop computer because its portability presents more opportunities to explore and to get assignments done. To that end we have wireless access points in Gill Memorial Library, Blake Middle School, the Spa and Lak Dining Hall, and in the Heritage Courtyard.
With a connection to WMAnet students have direct access to the Internet and to the school's Intranet for e-mail and Web activities. Access to software licensed to support classroom or lab use, network storage for documents or projects, is available to any student or teacher in labs and classrooms.
Students should know our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and refer to the information in the student handbook about network availability in the dormitories. All students are expected to use WMAnet and FirstClass e-mail system daily. FirstClass communicates important information on an immediate basis to all members of the community. Account information and basic instructions for e-mail use is provided to all new students, faculty, and staff. All registered networked computers are protected against viruses, most spyware, and spam by our network servers.
